Call for Symposium
I.International Folk Wind Instruments Symposium “Breath, Soul and Music”
Call for Symposium
At the end of the journey we started as the "National Zurna Festival" in 2013, an International Symposium will be held in 2024 to form the scientific leg of our "International Ethnic Wind Instruments Festival" project, which is the only and original in its field. The "I. International Wind Folk Instruments Symposium", which will take place at our university, will be held in Menteşe/Muğla, hosted by Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, between 18-20 April 2024. This symposium aims to discuss and examine international Wind Folk Instruments in terms of all their subjects and scope, and to bring new solutions/approaches/suggestions.
Our musical culture, which comes from the past and is highly artistic and aesthetic, and has the greatest diversity of wind instruments in the world, has necessitated such a scientific activity. In addition to the late start of Turkish Music education; It has not been able to fully fulfill its natural development process due to losses and corruption in human and social values. Especially "Popular Culture" has paved the way for corruption by forcing the people who work on these instruments. It is difficult for these ancient instruments to continue their existence in a healthy way without understanding them and carrying out a qualified process.
In the symposium, to assist the searches in the field of "Instrument Training, Instrument Training Programs, Ministry of Culture and Tourism and TRT Policies, Instrument Performance, Instrument Terminology, Instrument Methods, Organology" and to present special studies/research/projects prepared by Wind Folk Instruments academics/experts/artists. It is aimed to ensure discussion and reach the target by making pinpoint shots...
We believe that; 'Music people will solve the problems of music, not others.'
Related to the symposium topics: 'Some academics/artists with special works' may be invited.
We will be happy to see you, valuable academicians/researchers, among us with your original studies. Regards.
We would be honoured to have you on our scientific board.
